Howard took 7 years off before returning to baseball when he joined former high school teammates Jacob Robinson and Jared Bradley with the Dayton Rangers in 2009. Howard wasted no time getting reacquainted with the game. In his rookie campaign with the Rangers he batted .352, belting 6 home runs and tied for the team lead with 38 RBI. Howard is now the assistant manager of the Redlegs and plans to build on his successful rookie over the coming years.
