2012 All Stars

The Redlegs sent two players to the 2012 All-Star game to try and help the Miami Division to victory on Sunday at Fifth Third Field. Jacob Robinson was named the automatic starter for the Redlegs, and he led off for the Miami division and played left field. Robinson led the game off with a single and later scored the games first run when he was knocked in when the Shockers Matt Stiffler grounded out to 2nd base. Robinson would end his night in the 5th inning, going 1-3, and yielding to teammate Matt Mattice who took over in left field and in the leadoff spot. Mattice hit two sharp ground balls, but both were fielded cleanly for outs. The Buckeye Division ended up on top, winning the game 7-5 powered by Paul Little’s (Indians) home run and 5 RBI’s.

Mattice also took part in the home run derby, but fell just shy from knocking any out of the park. Brandon Howard hit 3 home runs in the first round of the derby, which was good enough to put him on top of the leaderboard. But Joey Everhart from the Fairborn Fury would come back to best Howard in the 2nd round. Howard eventually finished in a tie for 2nd.

Congratulations to Robinson, Mattice, and Howard for representing the Redlegs in this year’s All-Star festivities!
