Bradley Goes Deep in Loss

06/10/2013

The Redlegs and Royals met up for the first time in 2013 for a double dip at Miami University Middletown’s home field in Monroe. Both teams were able to put 11 hits together in game 1, but the Royals were able get those hits in timely situations which resulted in 10 runs opposed to just 4 for the Redlegs.

The Redlegs took an early lead in the top of the 1st when Jackson Millard and Kyle Arend singled consecutively to start off the inning. Brandon Howard would then drive Millard in with a single to give the Redlegs a 1-0 lead. The Royals answered in the bottom half of the inning. After a groundout and strikeout to start the frame, the Royals would get a walk and 4 consecutive 2 out hits to put 4 runs on the board. They then added runs in the 2nd and 4th innings, both off of 2 out singles, which made it 6-1. The Redlegs battled back in the top of the 5th, scoring twice to make it a 3 run game. Matt Morrison singled with 2 outs and stole 2nd before Jared Bradley sent a fly ball over the left field fence for his first career MVABL homerun.

But the Royals would put the nail in the coffin in the bottom half of the 5th, scoring 4 more times to take the 10-3 lead. Matt Redman flashed some leather in center field in the 6th to stave off another possible run by making a diving snag in right center field to take away extra bases. Jared Bradley drove in his 3rd run of the game in the bottom of the 7th when he singled in Justin McCurdy who had doubled two batters earlier.
