Redlegs Sweep Braves, Improve to 15-9

The Redlegs swept the Brick City Braves in their final matchup of the season winning 8-2 and 17-4.

Don Parrish took the hill in game 1 and pitched all 7 innings. Don allowed 1 earned run, 5 hits and struck out 6 Braves hitters in the complete game effort.

The Redlegs did almost all of their damage in the top of the 1st inning, sending 9 men to the plate which yielded 5 runs. Jackson Millard led the game off with a single and promptly scored on a triple by Kyle Arend. Jacob Robinson then walked and stole 2nd, Kyle Arend alertly took home on Robinson’s stolen base. Later in the inning, Justin McCurdy doubled in Brad Clark who had walked and Matt Morrison who had singled.

The Redlegs piled on in the 5th, scoring 3 more times highlighted by a 2 run double from Jackson Millard.

The Braves threatened in the 6th by putting a couple of runners on, and then Derrick Smith sent a line drive deep into left field. Matt Mattice was able to get a read on it and, while running back, was able to turn and make a great leaping catch to end the threat and the inning.
