Redman Tosses Gem in Redlegs 4th Straight Win

The expansion Wolverines traveled out to Monroe for a double dip against the Redlegs last weekend. The Wolverines opened up their season one week prior in the Memorial Day Tournament and made a splash right away by winning it all. The Redlegs were eliminated by the Mad River Machine who lost to the Wolverines in the championship.

Matt Redman started on the mound for the Redlegs and turned in an outstanding performance. Matt notched a complete game victory in game 1, allowing only 2 runs while punching out 4 Wolverine batters in the outing. Redman allowed only 7 hits and gave up 0 walks.

The Wolverines drew first blood when they scored in the top of the 1st inning, but the Redlegs answered in the bottom half and took the lead in the 2nd. Jackson Millard led off the 1st with a walk and was later driven in by Brad Clark on a sacrifice fly. Zach Carroll and Matt Mattice got things going in the 2nd by each drawing walks. Both runners would later score on a fielding error.

The Wolverines made it a 4-2 ballgame in the 4th, but the Redlegs added some insurance in the 4th and 6th. Mattice led the 4th off with a single, stole 2nd, and then scored on a double by Matt Morrison. In the 6th, Morrison and Bradley started the inning with walks. Morrison would score on a line drive to left by Millard that was a little too hot to handle for the left fielder, and Bradley was driven in by Kyle Arend who singled.

The Redman retired the Wolverines 1-2-3 in the 7th to nail down the victory for the Redlegs.
