The Redlegs dropped their 2nd straight by losing to the Wright Knights on Sunday lowering their record to 5-4 on the 2014 campaign. Despite only being outhit 16 to 14, the Redlegs could only capitalize and score 3 runs. Meanwhile the Knights were able to cash their 16 hits in for 13 runs.

The Redlegs 3 lone runs were scored in the 1st, 3rd and 5th innings. In the 1st Millard was hit by a pitch to start the inning. He was later driven in on a single by Brandon Howard, one of 4 his on the day for the Redleg 2nd baseman. In the 3rd, Millard again reached base to start the inning. This time with a single, but he was removed from the base paths on a fielder’s choice. Kyle Arend reached on that fielder’s choice and he moved himself to 3rd by stealing 2nd and moving to 3rd on a passed ball. Jacob Robinson then singled Arend in for the Redlegs 2nd run. Matt Morrison led the 5th off with a single, stole 2nd, and scored when Howard recorded his 3rd hit of the day.

Matt Redman started on the hill for the Redlegs and turned in a solid 4 inning performance before giving way to the bullpen. Matt allowed 3 runs on 6 hits and struck 3 hitters out before exiting. Redman did get a little defensive help early in the game. In the 2nd the leadoff batter walked and attempted a steal to 2nd but was cut down when Kyle Arend tossed a bullet to Brandon Howard at 2nd base. In the 3rd the leadoff hitter slashed a ball into the left center gap but was gunned down when center fielder Jacob Robinson cut the ball off in the gap and delivered a perfect throw to 2nd to spoil extra bases.

The Redlegs will look to get back on track with a tough and busy weekend coming up. They will get the 2012 MVABL champion Dayton Rangers on Saturday, the 2013 MVABL champion Royals on Sunday, followed by the perennial powerhouse Beavercreek Sox on Tuesday.
