The tables were turned in game two as the Slammers sent
Jeff Beal to the hill, and just like in the 2017
championship series, the Redleg offense couldn’t get
anything going against him. Beal would go the distance
and took a shutout into the 7th inning before the Redlegs
finally drew blood. Kyle Arend doubled to start the
inning, Nick Davis later walked before James Robinson
singled in a run. Jacob Robinson then singled to load
the bases. Beal then notched his 10th strikeout of the
game to record the second out of the inning. Ryan Gross
delivered a two-run single to cut the lead to 8-3 but
Beal buckled down and recorded his 11th strikeout of the
game to finish off the Redlegs.
The Slammers used a two-run double by Rick Anderson in
the 1st and a two-run blast by Dan Barhorst n the 4th to
carry the offense.
The Redlegs (6-4) will take on the Dayton Cardinals (2-8)
next weekend resuming a postponed game where they trail
3-1 in the 1st inning. Game 2 is a regularly scheduled
7-inning game.
