Redlegs Fall Flat in Final, Finish as Runner-Up

09/29/2018

Game two did not go well for the Redlegs, as simply nothing went right and they drifted off into a 16-0 run rule defeat. The lone bright spot for Camden was a fantastic relief appearance by Zheulin Wang. “Wilson” turned in his best performance as a Redleg as he tossed the final 1 1/3 innings and allowed only 1 hit and struck out 3 Slammers hitters.

Despite the rough ending, the Redlegs post-season certainly had some bright spots.

Kyle Arend hit an absurd .783 (18 -23) in 6 playoff games, and added a 1.217 slugging percentage with 4 triples and 2 doubles. He added 10 RBI and paced the team with 14 runs in his impressive post-season as well.

Mike Hartman followed up his impressive 2018 season where he led the MVABL in RBI with an incredible 14 runs batted in in the playoffs. Mike added a double and a triple with a .360 average. Not to go un-noticed, Mike was invaluable to the club defensively. He made the transition from 3rd base to short stop seamlessly after an injury to Matt Morrison at the end of the regular season. He recorded 13 assists and 8 put outs with a .955 fielding percentage at short.

Joey Watson hit .400 with a double, home run, and 9 RBI in 4 playoff games. His .667 slugging percentage trailed only Kyle Arend in the 2018 playoffs.

Jacob Robinson had a nice playoff run, hitting .474 and sporting a team-best .615 on base percentage. He recorded the 2nd highest run total with 10 and led the team with 3 stolen bases.

Nick Davis notched the 2nd highest hit total for the Redlegs with 11 as he hit .478 with a .609 slugging percentage out of the 2nd spot in the order. His one post-season strike out gave him the best plate appearance to strikeout ration at 27.0.

Ryan Gross paced the team with 4 post season doubles, hitting a solid .368 with a .579 slugging percentage.

The Redlegs are looking forward to 2019 and beginning their run for a 4th consecutive finals appearance in pursuit of their 2nd title.
