The Redlegs fell to the Kettering Royals by a final score of 4 to 3 in 10 innings on Saturday afternoon. The game turned out to be a pitcher’s duel between Royals starter Kevin Reynolds and lefty Brian Kuhbander for the Redlegs. Despite pitching well, Kuhbander took the loss going 9 innings, striking out 11 and giving up only 2 earned runs.

The Royals got on the board first as the Redlegs defense allowed Brian Duffy to reach base on an error, and then allowed Duffy to get into scoring position on a second error. Duffy was later driven in by Frank Burgos to give the Royals the early 1-0 advantage. But the Redlegs battled back in the second, taking a one run lead. Howard singled to lead off the inning and later scored when John Long reached on an error. Kuhbander then knocked long in with a single to give the Redlegs the 2-1 lead.

The Royals then reclaimed the lead in the fourth on a 2RBI single by Eric Jameson, bringing in Matt Finster and Jesus Velasquez who had singled back-to-back to lead off the inning.

The Redlegs tied the game back up in the 8th inning off of reliever D.J. Swearingen, who took over for Reynolds in the 7th. Brandon Howard tripled in Brad Clark, who had singled and stolen 2nd earlier in the inning. The game remained tied until the bottom of the 10th. Duffy walked to lead off the inning, and moved to third on a single by Jergens. The Redlegs then opted to walk Rudegeair to load the bases, but Duffy took home on a passed ball shortly afterward to end the game. Highlights: Brandon Howard 3-5 2B,3B,RBI. Brian Kuhbander 9IP,11K,2ER. 3-5 RBI. Brad Clark 2-4 SB
