The Redlegs are back in action tomorrow against the Slammers in a double header at Rotary Park in Beavercreek, game times are 1:00pm and 4:00pm.

Two weeks ago, the Redlegs squared off against the 1-0 Xenia Scouts, and ultimately fell just short of picking up their first win of the season.

Kevin Campbell got the nod for his first start of the season, and pitched very well over the first four frames, allowing just four hits and one unearned run.

The Redlegs struck first in the bottom of the 1st frame. Jesse Jones singled with one out and eventually scored on a Scouts fielding error.

The Scouts picked up that unearned run in the top of the 2nd, but the Redlegs answered and took the lead back in the bottom of the 2nd. James Robinson and Matt Redman each walked to start the inning and later Jesse Jones delivered a two out RBI single. Kyle Arend then forced an error that allowed the 2nd run to score.

Campbell ran out of gas in the 5th, and the Scouts were able to quickly load the bases and push a trio of runs across to take a 4-3 lead. Jesse Jones came on in relief and was the victim of a fielding error that allowed a pair of runs to cross, but otherwise shut down the threat and kept the game in striking distance at 6-3. Jones went on to throw the final 5 innings of the game and allowed no earned runs while piling up 4 strikeouts and allowing just 3 hits.

Jones got a smidge of help from centerfielder Jacob Robinson in the 8th. After retiring the leadoff batter, the next batter reached on a fielding error. The next hitter flared a pop up into shallow right field that Robinson was able to snare with a diving catch. He was then able to double up the runner returning to first base to end the frame.

Unfortunately, the Redleg offense was unable to muster any support for Jones, and ended up finishing the day with only 3 hits.

The Redlegs fall to 0-2 with the loss and have a tough matchup on deck with the defending champion Slammers.
