Game 2 started off ominously, as the Stars kept up their momentum by putting up a run in the top of the 1st against Redlegs starter Jesse Jones. That lead would be short lived, as Camden answered immediately with two runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st. Jacob Robinson walked to start the frame followed by a base hit by Jesse Jones. Both runners would later score on a fielding error.

After Jones struck out the side in the top of the 2nd, Camden got right back to work in the bottom half. Matt Mattice singled followed by a walk to Lucas Smith. Mattice and Smith then executed a double steal moving up to 2nd and 3rd. Jacob Robinson then lined a single into left field to bring both runners home and extend the lead to 4-1.

After the Stars scratched together an unearned run in the top of the 3rd, Marshall Eippert doubled to start the Redleg half, followed by Evan Koogler getting hit by a pitch to put two on with no outs. Another Stars miscue would end up allowing both runs to score, pushing the lead to 6-2.

Neither team scored in the 4th or 5th, as Jesse Jones continued to cruse. Jesse would eventually rack up 10 strikeouts in this one, allowing just 1 earned run in the complete game victory.

The Stars were able to pick up one more unearned run in the top of the 6th, but Camden again answered in the bottom half. Matt Mattice singled to start the frame, but it looked like any run scoring chances may fizzle after two consecutive strikeouts. Jacob Robinson then reached on an error, setting up Jesse Jones to help himself out by driving home 2 runs with a base hit. Kyle Arend followed this up with an RBI base hit of his own, giving the Redlegs the 9-3 advantage.

Jones wasn’t going to make anything interesting in the bottom of the 7th, as he slammed the door with three consecutive strikeouts to finish the game.
