Watson and Hartman Combine for 8 RBI in Win

The Redlegs made it 3 straight wins in a victory against the Beavercreek Orioles on Wednesday 6/15 under the lights at Rotary Park in Beavercreek.

Camden started hot, scoring three times in the top of the 1st inning. Jesse Jones reached on an error to start the game and was later driven in by Mike Hartman. After a single by Joey Watson, both Tyler Eaton and Cody Saraco- Polner delivered back-to-back RBI walks to finish off the inning with a 3-0 lead.

After the Orioles responded with a run in the bottom of the 1st, Camden got right back to work in the top of the 2nd. Lucas Smith started the inning off with a single but was erased after Jones reached on a fielder’s choice. Jones swiped 2nd before Marshall Eippert was hit by a pitch, and then Mike Hartman again drove in Jones on a single. Joey Watson then doubled in two more runs to push the Redleg advantage to 6-1.

The Orioles chipped back at the lead in the bottom of the 2nd, scoring again to cut the lead to 6-2. After that however, Redlegs starter Tyler Eaton allowed only two more baserunners over the duration of the game as he piled up 6 strikeouts along the way. Eaton earned his first victory of the 2022 season in the shortened complete game effort.

Not that they would need it with Eaton dialed in on the mound, but the Redlegs poured in the runs in the top of the 5th, scoring 7 more times to take a 13-2 advantage. Cody Saraco-Polner walked to start the inning and James Robinson was granted first on a catcher’s interference call. Two straight strikeouts then seemed to have put any run scoring opportunity on ice, but the Redlegs would send 7 straight batters to the plate with two outs. Jesse Jones singled, followed by a walk to Eippert, followed by a two-run single by Mike Hartman. Joey Watson then added a two-run triple leaving him a home run short of the cycle. Eric Jameson was then hit by a pitch before Tyler Eaton helped himself out with a two-run single of his own.

The win moves Camden to 4-6 with a matchup with the 2nd place Wild Boars on tap for Sunday 6/19.
