Camden is now riding a 6-game winning streak after sweeping
a double header from the Beavercreek Orioles on Sunday, July
31st. Since their dreadful 1-6 start to the season, the
Redlegs have now reeled off 11 wins in their last 13 games
the beginning of June.
Game 1 of the double header was all Redlegs. Camden notched
a franchise first as Jesse Jones and Chris Flaherty combined
for a perfect game in the 4-inning run rule. Jesse tossed
the first inning and recorded one strikeout while Flaherty
fired the final 3 frames, picking up 3 strikeouts in his
first action from the hill this season.
The Redlegs poured on the runs right away and did most of
their damage with two-outs in the bottom of the 1st. Jacob
Robinson singled to start the game, and later Mike Hartman
drove him in with a one-out single. After a flyout resulted
in the 2nd out, Matt Mattice drove home a run with a two-out
single. Eric Jameson was then hit by a pitch before Max
Ramsey blasted a double into the gap to record his first hit
and RBI as a Redleg. James Robinson then singled before
Justin Lynch was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jesse
Jones then hammered his first career grand slam and 2nd home
run of the season.
Camden worked some more two-out magic in the 2nd inning,
plating two runs after a groundout and flyout. Chris
Flaherty, Matt Mattice, and Eric Jameson all worked two-out
walks to load the bases. Setting up Max Ramsey to drive in
his 3rd and 4th runs of the games with a single.
Four more runs came for Camden in the 3rd inning after Jesse
Jones walked, Evan Koogler was hit by a pitch, and Jacob
Robinson walked to load the bases. An Oriole error then led
to two runs scoring for the Redlegs. Two consecutive outs
then occurred, and Matt Mattice singled to keep the inning
alive. Eric Jameson then delivered a two-run single to push
the lead to 14-0.
The top of the 4th saw 6 more Redlegs score and resulted in
the 21-0 final score. James Robinson and Justin Lynch each
walked to start the frame before Jesse Jones singled to load
the bases. A run then scored on a fielder’s choice before
Tyler Eaton walked to re-load the bases. Jacob Robinson
then worked a bases loaded walk followed by an RBI single by
Kyle Arend. Mike Hartman then plated his 3rd run of the
game, and later Eric Jameson delivered another two-run
single.
The bottom of the 4th was uneventful as Flaherty capped the
game with a pop out, strikeout, and groundout to complete
the perfect game.
