Redlegs Back to .500

In game two the Redlegs gave 2nd round draft choice Eric Williams the nod, making his Redlegs debut on the mound. Williams went the distance, pitching the complete game and only 3 of the 8 runs he gave up were earned as the Redlegs were unable to provide a strong defense behind him. He also struck out 6 in the game as he picked up his first career win in the MVABL.

The Redlegs took an early lead in the top of the 1st as Robinson led of the game with a walk and stole second, and was later driven in on a double from Taylor Guntle. They scored again as Long led off the 2nd with a triple and was later driven in on a groundball that resulted in a double play. But the momentum soon shifted in favor of the Shockers as they scored 2 in the bottom of the second, 1 in the third, and 3 more in the 4th taking a 6-2 lead after 5. The Redlegs chipped away in the 6th as Mattice walked and stole second, and was later driven in on a grounder from Brad Clark. Things looked grim as the Redlegs went into the top of the 7th trailing 6-3, but quickly started a rally as Howard walked to lead off the inning, followed by a single from Long and an RBI double from newcomer Derek Graham. Zach Clendenen then walked to load the bases. After a passed ball that brought the score to 6-5, Eric Williams singled to load the bases once again. Bradley then drove in a run on a tough grounder that caused a Shockers error. Jacob Robinson then delivered a 2RBI triple to push the lead to 9-6, followed by an RBI groundout by Matt Mattice. Williams headed back to the mound to finish off the win and did so, despite giving up 2 unearned runs after a couple Redlegs errors. In the end the Redlegs completed the comeback and won the game 10-8.
