The Redlegs split a double header against an undermanned Dayton Astros squad at Preble Shawnee on Sunday. The Redlegs let game 1 get away as the Astros scored late to win it by a final score of 12-10.

Brian Kuhbander started on the hill for the Redlegs and held the Astros in check, going 5 innings, striking out 3 and giving up 6 runs. The Astros scored first in the top of the 2nd inning, both runs coming across on a Redlegs error. The Astros then put up 3 more in the 3rd inning, capped off by a 2 run bomb off the bat of Scott Hastings. The Redlegs came storming back in the bottom half however, scoring 8 times while sending 9 men to the plate. Jared Bradley doubled to lead off the inning, followed by Jacob Robinson reaching on an error. After a stolen base from Robinson, Matt Mattice brought both runners in with a double. Brad Clark then doubled in Mattice, and Clark was then tripled in by Kuhbander. Kuhbander then scored on an RBI single from Brandon Howard. Zach Clendenen finished off the innings scoring with a 2RBI double, bringing in Kevin Schaeffer who reached on an error, and Kevin Campbell who walked. The Redlegs only scored twice more in the entire game. Once in the 5th, Kuhbander scored on a sacrifice fly from Schaeffer, and once in the 6th as Robinson was able to cross on an Astros error. The Astros scored once in the 4th, and twice in the 5th, but did the most damage in the 6th as they scored 6 times, drawing 5 walks in the inning which ended up being enough to hold off the Redlegs and to win the game.
