Redlegs Split Double Header With Astros

The Redlegs recovered in the nightcap of their double header against the Astros, winning 8-3. Rookie of the Year candidate Taylor Guntle improved to 5-0 in the Redlegs win. Guntle went the distance pitching 7 innings, allowing 2 earned runs, and striking out 7.

The Redlegs started the scoring early as Jacob Robinson led off the game with a single and was later doubled in by Guntle. In the second Zach Clendenen led the inning off with a walk and later came around to score on an Astros miscue. In the third Brad Clark doubled in Brandon Howard, who had previously singled to push the Redlegs lead to 3-0. The Redlegs broke it open in the 4th, scoring 5 times to take an 8-1 lead. Jared Bradley led the inning off with a walk, Robinson singled and Matt Mattice reached on an error to load the bases. Guntle then singled in Bradley and Robinson, and Clendenen later doubled in 2 more runs. The lead remained 8-1 until the bottom of the 7th when the Astros tried to rally as P.J. Dobbins singled, and was brought in as Evan Tennery doubled. Tennery later scored but Guntle able to halt any rally and end the game with a final score of 8-3.
