Redlegs Sweep Dragons; Improve to 12-9

In game two the Redlegs looked to improve on their longest winning streak in franchise history. After putting up 14 runs in game 1, the Redleg offense scored 17 in game 2, capped off by a 13 run 5th inning that sent 17 hitters to the plate. The Redlegs took game 2 by a final score of 17-8 and improved their winning streak to 5 straight.

The Dragons struck first in the nightcap, going up 1-0 in the top of the 2nd when Matt Berger drove a run in on a sacrifice fly. But the Redlegs were quick to retake the lead, scoring 4 times in the bottom half of the inning. Derek Graham led the inning off with a walk and Taylor Guntle was hit by a pitch. John Long then singled to load the bases, bring Brandon Howard to the plate. Howard singled in the first 2 of his 7 RBI in the game to give the Redlegs a 2-1 lead. Schaeffer later drove a run in, followed by an RBI single from Jacob Robinson. But the Dragons took the lead back in the top of the 4th as they scored 5 runs of their own, capped off by a home run from Matt Berger.

Trailing 6-4 the Redlegs took the lead and put the game away all in the bottom of the 5th inning. The Redlegs racked up 9 hits in the inning which scored 13 runs. Jared Bradley led the inning off with a walk, Brad Clark singled, and Derek Graham singled to bring in Bradley. Taylor Guntle then singled in Clark, followed by a walk to John Long. Brandon Howard then brought 2 more runs in with a double, and Kevin Campbell brought another in with a sacrifice fly. Robinson then drove another in with a triple, and scored on a single from Bradley. Clark then walked, and Derek Graham doubled home 2 more runs. Graham then scored on a double by Taylor Guntle. John Long was then hit with a pitch which again brought Howard to the plate. This time Howard blasted a three run home run over the left field fence to push his RBI total to 7 in the game. Howard's 7 RBIs set a single game Redlegs franchise record. The Dragons were able to score another run in the 6th on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Nollan, and another in the 7th as Cody Vance drove one home. But the deficit proved to be too much and the Redlegs emerged victorious for their 5th straight win. Brad Clark pitched the final 3 innings for the Redlegs, giving up only 1 earned run to pick up the victory.
