The Sox took the fourth and final game of the season series
on Tuesday night against the Redlegs winning 4-1. The
Redlegs sent Eric Williams to the hill to face the Sox for
the 2nd time in 7 days, as he got the victory one week
prior. Williams pitched well enough to give the Redlegs a
chance to win, but the offense fell short, getting 6 hits
and scoring only 1 run. Williams pitched all 7 innings,
allowing 4 earned runs and striking out 6 Sox batters.
The Sox got on the board first, scoring a run in the first
and second innings, giving them a quick 2-0 advantage. The
Redlegs did fight back in the 2nd when John Long hit a one
out double. Brandon Howard then would have tied the game on
what should have been a two run home run, but was ruled foul
on a questionable call down the left field line. Kevin
Campbell did later drive Long in on an RBI single which
proved to be the only run the Redlegs squad could muster.
The Sox scored 2 more runs in the 6th inning to give them
plenty of cushion going into the bottom of the 7th, but the
Redlegs went down 1-2-3 to end the game.
Highlights: John Long 1-3, 2B, R. Kevin Campbell 1-3, RBI.
Derek Graham 1-3, 2B.
