In game two Taylor Guntle (5-0) took the hill seeking his
6th win of the season. He was opposed by the Tribes' Matt
Coleman (3-4). The Redlegs could not find an answer for
Coleman when they last faced each other way back on April
25th. The Redlegs held a 12 run advantage, scoring 12 runs
in the first three innings. But Coleman shut the Redlegs
down for the final four as the Indians were able to come
back and take the win.
Sunday would mark a different outcome for the Redlegs as
they found an answer to the Indians starter. The Redlegs
again started out strong in the first, scoring 5 times in
the frame. Robinson led off with a walk, Clark later
doubled and John Long was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Taylor Guntle then blasted the first grand slam in Redlegs
history to give the team a 4-0 lead. Brian Kuhbander was
then hit by a pitch and Kevin Campbell singled and stole
second, and both scored on a double from Kevin Schaeffer.
The Indians scored once in the bottom half as Reston Wilson
struck again, driving in Donnie Black who doubled to start
the frame. The score held at 6-1 until the top of the
fourth inning when the Redlegs struck for 5 more, extending
their lead to 11-1. Schaeffer led the inning off with a
single, followed by a single from Robinson. Brad Clark and
John Long each singled driving in a run each, and Kuhbander
later singled both Clark and Long in. Brandon Howard then
brought one in with a double to finish off the scoring.
Guntle continued to cruise, giving up no more runs until the
6th where he gave up only one more. Guntle went 6 innings,
striking out 4 and allowed 7 hits en route to his 6th win of
the season.
