Redlegs End Losing Streak

07/06/2011

The Redlegs 8 game losing streak finally came to an end Sunday when they squared off against the defending MVABL Champion Kettering Royals and came out on top by a final score of 12-3. Eric Williams took the hill and was outstanding in an 8 inning, 15K, 7 hit effort. Williams surrendered only 3 runs over his 8 innings and Taylor Guntle pitched a scoreless 9th, striking out the side to finish the game.

The Redlegs got things started in the top of the 3rd inning when Steve Benthal scored on a wild pitch after getting a single to start the inning. Matt Redman then singled and after moving to third base, came home on a sacrifice fly from Matt Mattice. Brandon Howard then launched his second homerun of the season in the 4th, and singled in Brad Clark in the 5th to push the Redleg lead to 5-3. Guntle later knocked in a run in the 7th, and 2 more scored on another Benthal single. Clark and Howard both had RBI singles in the 8th inning as well, and Jared Bradley scored the game’s final run on a throwing error after walking earlier in the 9th inning.

The Redlegs will attempt to get on a winning streak this Tuesday night when they take on the Tigers at Rotary Park at 7:00pm. This game will be an uncharacteristic 5th game in 7 days for the Camden Club.
