Game 2 was a completely different story. The Redleg offense woke up and put 19 runs on the board. Unfortunately the Slammers were able to score 4 more and win the game at an astounding 23-19 final score.
The Redlegs jumped out early in the top of the 1st inning. Jacob Robinson and Brad Clark both reached with singles to start the game and were driven in correspondingly by Brandon Howard and Taylor Guntle. Benthal later drove in a run with a double to give the Redlegs a 4-0 advantage. It’s tough to believe, but that would be the final time the Redlegs sniffed the lead as the Slammers scored 13 times in the bottom half of the 1st inning. The Redlegs scored 5 more in the 2nd, 1 in the 3rd, 4 in the 4th, 2 in the 5th, and 3 in the 7th before they were finally put away. The 6th inning was the only frame in the game where neither team scored.
The Redlegs will take on the Miami Valley Thunder next weekend at Preble Shawnee in a double header at 1:00 and 4:00.
